The Hobie Cat Europe's international team developed the Tiger specially for the open multihull racing and the results have proved the top performance of the Hobie Tiger. Fittings (all Harken), hull design and sailshape are the results of the latest development in technology. The Tiger is designed to meet the "open Formula 18" racing requirements. The Hobie Tiger is an International class under the ISAF and is the only twin wire high performance multihull class in Ireland to hold a One Design Hobie Tiger worlds and F18 world championships.

This years F18 Worlds and F18 European Championships are to be held in Poole harbour, UK in July, and Hobie Tiger Worlds are in Lake Garda Italy.
