Dart 18 Pics
- The designer's brief for the Dart 18 was that it had to be fast and
exhilarating, easy to assemble and maintain, easily sailed by mixed crews and
able to provide the highest quality racing.
- Since it was introduced in Ireland eight years ago the Dart 18 catamaran
has grown to be the largest catamaran class raced in Ireland, with an entry
of 20 at the National Championships. The Dart 18 class is based mainly at
Blessington S.C. near Dublin and at Ballyholme Y.C. in Northern Ireland.
There are also some Dart 18's at Galway Bay S.C. and Skerries S.C.
- With the "International one design" Dart 18 you
enjoy fleet racing against identical boats.
It is illegal to add expensive extras when racing, so there are no hidden
costs. You race the catamaran exactly as it leaves the factory.
- In a Dart 18 fleet you will see a large range of crew combinations,
including couples, and parents crewed by their children. Dart 18 versatility
allows single handed sailors, using mainsail alone, to compete on equal
terms with other boats.
- Even if you do not want to race the Dart 18, the sheer exhilaration
generated sailing this catamaran will keep you on a high long after you
have come ashore.
